We don’t giveback for the recognition. Our team does this work because they genuinely careabout our communities. Still, it means a great deal when those efforts areacknowledged.  The first time GBQ was recognized for commitment to community service was in 1998, when we were named a recipient of the 13th Annual Medical Mutual Pillar Award for Community Service, which was presented by Smart Business. Later,  GBQ was recognized by Columbus Business First with a Corporate Caring Award in 2004 and 2014 in the category of “Health & Human Services.” The firm was a finalist for the award from 2002 to 2008 and from 2010 to 2017. In 2018, the award was replaced with the Corporate Citizenship Award. GBQ was named a finalist in the “Large Employer” category in 2018-2019 and 2022. In 2025, the firm was once again named as a Corporate Citizenship Award honoree.

In addition to being honored for our dedication to public service, GBQ is proud to have been awarded numerous accolades that recognize our firm's unique culture, including "Best Places To Work" and "Top Workplaces" in our various locations. 

How GBQ Empowers Employees To Give Back

Giving back and empowering our communities by volunteering and supporting local, state, and national nonprofit organizations is embedded in our culture. Our team members feel good when they can give back, and we are proud to empower them to go out and do great things, as individuals and as teams.

There are numerous ways to give back as a GBQ employee:

• • Volunteer Time Off - Each year, GBQ grants employees 8 hours of paid time off to support area nonprofits and community initiatives.

  • Donation Requests - Through the firm's annual charitable budget, GBQ   will fund charitable contributions and sponsorships to qualified, federal tax-exempt 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations at the request of its employees. This empowers our firm to support the organizations and initiatives that matter most to our team members and that have a clear, measurable impact on the community.

  • Volunteer Opportunity Awareness - GBQ also gives team members access to CSRConnect, an employee-giving and volunteering portal that lets them find and track volunteer opportunities in their areas, log hours, and donate to causes they care about.  

  • Office-Based Opportunities - From giving associates the ability to donate a portion of their paychecks to the region's United Way to organizing office-wide food drives, toy drives, and volunteer day initiatives, we believe that investing in the communities in which we live and work enriches us all, which is why we believe these office-based opportunities are so important.
