You might be surprised to learn that Sam piloted her first solo flight on her sixteenth birthday — until you learn that it’s a family tradition and that she grew up on a small private airport. If she’s not in the air, she’s near the water, working on home renovations with her husband (and junior high sweetheart!) and their three kids.
Since starting her career with GBQ as an auditor, she’s kept busy making sure things are being done right, always looking for a newer, smarter way to get there. Sam revels in tackling challenges and resolving problems, and we know she’ll continue to soar.

Sam joined GBQ in 2010 after obtaining her Bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University. She began her career in the firm’s Assurance department, serving clients in various industries, including nonprofit, manufacturing, restaurant, and service industries. In addition to providing several assurance services, Sam was primarily focused on assisting clients with internal controls and fraud risk assessments. Additionally, she was part of the employee benefit plan audit group, managing audits for defined contribution plans, including 403(b) plans, ESOPs and defined benefit plans.
In 2016, Sam transitioned her career and joined GBQ’s internal finance department focusing on working capital management, implementing new processes and controls, and financial reporting. In January 2024, Sam was promoted to GBQ’s Director of Operations. As a key member of the firm’s leadership team, she is a strategic and operational leader driving strategic planning, change management and workflow efficiencies, creating an infrastructure for continued growth.
