With time comes perspective, and some of Mary's best advice: don't try to boil the ocean; to make an impact, start with a cup of tea. In her long career with GBQ, Mary has inspired us all with her ability and willingness to reflect, pivot, and continually update her goals along the way.
Mary revels in being an advisor, mentor, and friend to both her clients and her internal team, uncovering what drives them and how she can help them find success. Her commitment to learning, as well as teaching, has earned her accolades in both her professional and personal life, including several of GBQ's leadership and service awards; she was also named Volunteer of the Year by the Down Syndrome Association of Central Ohio.

Mary joined GBQ Partners in June 2007 after starting her career as an auditor with Grant Thornton in Cleveland, Ohio.
Mary has 15 years of experience, which includes the performance of and management of audits, reviews, and various other business consulting projects. Mary has a diverse client base serving the nonprofit, service, manufacturing, restaurant, technology and distribution industries, as well as experience in multi-company accounting and complex financial reporting. She also has experience serving some of our most complex private companies, Japanese-owned companies, and our SEC audit and advisory clients.
Mary provides significant contributions to GBQ's employee benefit plan audit group, which performs over 100 plan audits per year. These audits include defined contribution plans (including 11K filings and 403(b) plans), defined benefit plans and health and welfare plans. GBQ is a member of the AICPA Employee Benefit Plan Audit Quality Center, which was established to promote the quality of employee benefit plan audits.
Mary's experience in planning and executing audits allows her to be effective in providing support to engagement seniors and staff. She is also passionate about supporting the firm through her assistance in recruiting, training and development.
Mary was a member of the Leadership Columbus class of 2016 and is a board member with the Down Syndrome Association of Central Ohio.
