Joe Bernstein, a Cleveland native and passionate distance runner, balances his professional life as a buy-side and sell-side quality of earnings service provider, with his personal goal of running a marathon in every U.S. state. Inspired by his mother, a public accounting partner who raised four sons while building her career, Joe approaches both his professional relationships and personal connections with the same golden rule he lives by: "Treat others as you'd like to be treated."
He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and an MBA, and is a member of several professional associations. Joe enjoys learning from new clients and understanding their business journeys. Outside of work, he is an avid runner and CrossFit enthusiast, believing that physical well-being enhances his professional performance. Joe is always ready to go the extra mile, both in his career and on the running trail.

Joe joined GBQ in 2021, specializing in transaction advisory and business consulting. Joe focuses on providing strategic insights, conducting thorough due diligence, and helping clients navigate complex financial challenges to mitigate risks and maximize transaction value.
Prior to joining GBQ, Joe served as an accountant at National Interstate Insurance Company, where he was responsible for accounting functions, including close processes, account reconciliations, and collaboration across departments to ensure the accuracy of financial reporting.
Joe is dedicated to the success of GBQ’s Transaction & Business Advisory Services practice and is known for his strong analytical skills and client-focused approach. His data analysis, auditing, and financial statement preparation expertise allows him to deliver comprehensive solutions to clients across various industries.
Joe holds certifications as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE). Joe earned a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business/Management, and Economics from the University of Mount Union and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Cleveland State University. He is passionate about leveraging his expertise to drive meaningful results for every client engagement and continuously enhancing the capabilities of the firm’s advisory team.
