Outside the office, Eric is an avid cyclist and triathlete who thrives on movement. Much of his free time is spent in the stands of ice rinks across the Midwest, supporting his two hockey-playing sons and perfecting the art of staying warm in a building intentionally kept cold. His preferred counterbalance to all that rink time is escaping to sunny Naples, Florida, whenever the Michigan winter overstays its welcome.
Eric and his family are also deeply committed to giving back. They actively support Breakthrough T1D (formerly the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, “JDRF”) and The Cure Starts Now Foundation, causes that hold special meaning for them and reflect their dedication to making a difference beyond the rink and the office.
He doesn’t slow down much on workdays, either. Providing pertinent expertise and unmatched service to his clients, Eric works to alleviate the burden of their complex problems, from navigating capital allocation strategies and analytical challenges to addressing the demands of evolving reporting requirements.

Mr. Valyko joined GBQ Capital Advisors in 2023 with more than 15 years of financial experience serving public and private-sector clients for financial and tax reporting, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate strategic planning matters. He has extensive expertise across various industries, including industrial products, automotive, retail and consumer products, manufacturing, distribution, construction, and professional services, among others.
Mr. Valyko advises both publicly traded and privately owned companies on purchase price allocations, goodwill impairment testing, business enterprise valuation, stock-option valuation, and the valuation of various intangible assets (e.g., trade names and trademarks, patented and unpatented technology, know-how, and customer relationships, etc.), utilizing multiple forms of the income, market, and cost approaches. His experience spans a diverse client base, from regional middle-market businesses to multi-billion-dollar SEC reporting enterprises, private equity, and accounting firms.
Additionally, Mr. Valyko advises executive teams on decision-making in a strategic context through pre-transaction advisory services, examining various performance scenarios and associated risk benchmarking.
Prior to joining GBQ, Mr. Valyko served as Senior Vice President in Stout's Corporate Valuation Advisory practice. He is a member of the American Society of Appraisers, holding the designation of Accredited Senior Appraiser.
