Hometown hero.
Born, raised and educated in his hometown of Toledo, Ohio, Bret understands the value in roots that run deep. With friendships that trace back to his earliest elementary days, he's carried one driving principle forward into his long career: relationships matter.
Since the beginning of his professional career as an intern to now, Bret has become an invaluable member of the GBQ family. And while what matters most will always stay the same, one of his favorite parts of the job is the variety: every day — and every entrepreneur — is different.

Bret joined GBQ in 2020 following the firm's joining of forces with Weber Clark, Ltd. He has more than 30 years of experience providing assurance, tax and consulting services to closely-held businesses in a wide range of industries, including manufacturing and distribution, transportation and logistics, and service businesses. Additionally, Bret serves clients in the construction, retail and nonprofit industries.
Bret serves as Treasurer for the Regional Chamber of Commerce. He is also the current treasurer of the Historic South Initiative and S.P. Jermain Foundation. Additionally, he is active with the Toledo Trucking Association. Bret previously served many years as treasurer for the Northwest Ohio Hemophilia Foundation and is a former volunteer presenter for ASSETS Toledo.
