GBQ is proud to announce it has earned the recognition of being named a Columbus Business First Corporate Citizenship Awards finalist, an initiative designed to recognize and celebrate the philanthropic spirit of central Ohio businesses. A recipient of the award in 2018 and 2019, GBQ is honored to represent the industry as the sole accounting firm honoree out of nearly 40 companies recognized at this year’s awards reception.

Columbus Business First’s Corporate Citizenship award is part of a larger initiative to honor organizations that are working to improve the lives of local residents and the communities in which they reside. Surveys were submitted by companies of all sizes in a variety of industries, disclosing information including dollars donated, in-kind contributions and the number of volunteer hours spent supporting various nonprofits. The program, launched in 2018, replaces the long-running Corporate Caring Awards, which honored companies’ philanthropic efforts through nominations and judged applications. GBQ is proud to have received a Corporate Caring Award in 2004 and 2014 in the category of “Human Services.” The firm was a finalist for the award in 2002-2003, 2005-2008, 2010-2013, and 2015-2017.

While GBQ has changed in size and scope since its inception in 1953, what has not changed is our culture and the way we care for our team members and communities in which we work and live. Through the firm’s “Committed to Community” initiative, associates are provided the time to volunteer at various charitable organizations, including company-organized sessions, to further encourage and promote their philanthropic efforts. Additionally, GBQ implemented a sponsorship/contribution process where associates, regardless of level, submit support requests for an organization they are involved with and feel passionate about. Each year, GBQ’s employees contribute considerable time and money to more than 100 nonprofits.
