Mark B. LaPlace, CPA
DIRECTOR OF TAX SERVICES


Mark, originally from Ohio's "North Coast," has lived and worked in Central Ohio since 1980. A graduate of Cleveland State University, Mark spent twelve years working for Price Waterhouse. He joined GBQ Partners LLC in 1992.

Mark's public accounting experience is very diverse. He has served clients in manufacturing, real estate development and management, financial services, retail, professional services organizations and non-profit organizations.

Mark serves as GBQ Partners LLC's Director of Tax Services. He has specialized in tax planning and consulting for middle market and entrepreneurial companies. Mark also has considerable experience in providing income and estate tax and financial planning services to high net worth individuals, including significant experience working with professional athletes.

Mark has held several offices as a member of the Ohio Society of CPAs, including Chair of the Board for the 2000-2001 fiscal year and Vice President of the OSCPA's Executive Committee (1996-1998). He also was the 1992-1993 President of the Columbus Chapter of the OSCPA. He is also a member of the American Institute of CPAs and serves as a member of the AICPA Council. Mark is currently the Chairman of the Board for 535 Metro LLC, a for-profit affiliate of the OSCPA. In addition, he is involved in several community organizations, including serving as Treasurer of the Ohio Reads Foundation and the Governor's Residence Foundation. Since 2000, he has been a Member of the Ohio Arts & Sports Facilities Commission (appointed by Governor Bob Taft), and recently named Secretary/Treasurer of the Commission. Mark serves as a Trustee of the Taft Inaugural Committee.

Mark is the Treasurer for Ohioans for Justice (Terrence) O'Donnell, (Judith) Lanzinger for Justice Committee campaigns. Mark currently serves as Treasurer of Governor Taft's Campaign Committee. He has also served as the Campaign Treasurer for Bob Taft's successful election to Governor of the State of Ohio in 2002 and 1998 and his successful election to Secretary of State in 1994. Mark is also Treasurer for Issue 1 - Ohioans for the Third Frontier.

Mark also serves on the Board of Governors for the Capital Club in Columbus, Ohio. Mark is also a member of the Development Board of Children's Hospital of Columbus and the Columbus Ohio Golf Advisory Board.
